Writers love to hear readers’ reactions to their work. So if you have feedback to offer, you’ve come to the perfect spot.
What do you like - or don’t you like - about HOUSE LUST? Do you see yourself in any of the behaviors described in the book? Did you find any errors that you think need to be corrected in future editions, or some subject that I should have covered but didn’t? Was there some moment in your own life that made you think your obsession with homes was becoming a bit too much? Or do you have some great idea for a story - about you or someone else - I should tell in my Newsweek.com column or in the magazine? Feel free to share your thoughts in the box below for posting. Thanks!
Gosh I enjoyed this book! I was looking for insight into a world completely foreign to me and I was richly rewarded. As the satisfied original owner of a 40-yr.-old house, the 3-2-2 garden kitchen type, I now know why the cable TV shows and networks are so popular.
I only recently learned about Zillow so at least I knew about that, but otherwise this book was like an adult education course at a community college - learning and laughing. In the current world that is “upside down” in mortgage loans and car loans, I am completely debt-free. I bought House Lust to learn about those folks with a different mindset and am quite happy with my “education.”
In 1968, my dream was to own my home. Which, of course, happened many years ago. The one and only total renovation I did to my house was in 1989 and I have no intention of further tinkering with it.
My compulsion is that, 24/7, you can walk into my house and it will be neat and clean and pretty with fresh flowers in the living room for my personal enjoyment. Otherwise, when archaeologists in the 24th century dig up the foundation, they will find bits and shards of the original build.
I give away most of my books; otherwise, I would be living in an abandoned K-mart. But House Lust stays in the house.
From the minute I picked up House Lust, I couldn’t put it down. What a fun and interesting read. I loved this book so much that I reviewed it on my blog and added a link to your site. I am also giving away a copy of the book (if the author would like to donate a signed copy to the giveaway, please contact me).
My blog is called “Hooked on Houses” and is for people who are obsessed with real estate. To read my review of House Lust or enter the book giveaway, go to http://hookedonhouses.wordpress.com. Thanks!
